Study Room Basics

The Library has study rooms available, which may be reserved for up to three hours at a time. Online reservations are required (even for walk-up use, if available) via the LAVC Library website.

Group study rooms are for LAVC students currently enrolled in at least one class, and are not available for individual users (minimum 2 people; maximum varies per room from 4 to 8). 

Zoom rooms (128 and 129 only) are for LAVC students currently enrolled in at least one class, and are available for 1-2 people.

Face masks are strongly recommended in study rooms at all times.

When a Library Study Room is Reserved, Everyone Using the Room Agrees to the Following...

RESERVATIONS AND CHECKOUTS

  • To receive a key at the Library's front desk, you must
  • Reservations are limited to 3 hours per day, per person making the reservation. Need more than 3 hours? Have someone else in your group make an additional booking.
  • If you arrive later than 15 minutes after reservation start time, your reservation will be cancelled.
  • Keep track of your time, and return your key to the front desk on time. Students with multiple late returns will lose room checkout privileges.

PEOPLE IN THE ROOM -- GROUP STUDY ROOMS

  • Do not leave your room unattended.
  • Individual users who stay in a room after a group leaves will be asked to leave the room.
  • Do not exceed maximum capacity (stated on reservation page and in the room itself).
  • Do not cover or block windows or doors.
  • You must vacate the room 30 minutes before the Library closes.

PEOPLE IN THE ROOM -- ZOOM ROOMS

  • Do not leave your room unattended for more than 15 minutes.
  • The maximum capacity is 2 people per room.
  • Do not cover or block windows or doors.
  • You must vacate the room 30 minutes before the Library closes.

RESPECTING THE SPACE

  • Report any damage in the room immediately to the front desk, or you will be held responsible.
  • Food is not allowed. 
  • Smoking and vaping are not allowed.

Lost Keys & Rules Violations

Lost Keys Policy

  • Students who do not return keys must pay the replacement fee and will lose key checkout privileges for the rest of the semester.

Late Keys or any other violation of room policy 

  • After 3 study room policy violations are documented in their account, students lose key checkout privileges for the rest of the semester.
  • Violations include
    • Key returned after 10-minute grace period is over
    • Warnings from a Library employee (documented on the student's account) about violations of college, Library, or room policy such as
