When creating/adopting a new course or revising an existing one, it is each faculty member's responsibility to identify what library resources are needed for students to be successful in the course, and whether the LAVC Library already owns or subscribes to them. This is particularly important when proposing courses in areas that are new to LAVC as the Library collections and subscriptions are developed to support current curriculum so cannot guarantee access to materials needed to support new areas. Library resources needed in a course can include print books; ebooks; discipline-specific subscription databases; streaming video or audio; specific journal, newspaper, or magazine subscriptions; and/or instruction on information literacy skills.
Please use the links below to confirm that LAVC Library has the resources needed to support students in your courses. If you have questions, or wish to request that the library add resources needed for your courses, please contact the LAVC Library at library@lavc.edu and one of our librarians can consult with you.
Please note that ebook access is not permanent, nor is it necessarily unlimited (i.e. some ebooks limit the number of people who can use a book at the same time).
The library provides access to streaming video via 4 main vendors: AVON/Alexander Street, Films on Demand, Kanopy, and Swank. Kanopy and Swank films are only be added by instructor request to library@lavc.edu. See below for more info on each vendor.
